ON K1H 8M2 Canada
In 1996, we took the Uplift
Seat Assist to the Occupational Therapy Institute
for Rehabilitation Research and Development for clinical
testing. The results of the limited trials found that
the Uplift Seat Assist:
- Worked very well on chesterfields and soft chairs;
- Worked optimally for clients with normal or low
muscle tone;
- Worked well for clients with some degenerating
conditions before muscle tone decreased too much;
- Was not found to be useful with spastic, quadriplegic
clients, and those with high muscle tone;
- Was very useful for clients with lower extremity
weakness and/or upper extremity weakness;
- Was safe when used on a stable base, or on a chesterfield
beside one arm rest, and also on a soft armchair;
- Was safe to use in a wheelchair as long as the
wheels were securely locked.
