New
Uplift Seat Assist PLUS Developed for Heavier Weight Range
DARTMOUTH.
N.S. - Today, Uplift Technologies Inc., manufacturers
of the Uplift Seat AssistTM, announced the release of a new
Uplift PLUS model to accommodate individuals with weights
between 200 and 350+ pounds..
The UPlift Seat
Assist is a light-weight, portable lifting cushion that transforms
any armchair or sofa into an automatic lifting chair. The
Uplift's patented design provides a stable and gentle lift
that supports up to 80% of the user's weight. The regular
model UL100 accommodates weight settings from 80 to 250 pounds.
The new PLUS model utilizes the same innovative technology
and design as the regular Uplift Seat Assist, except that
the hydro-pneumatic lifting piston has been re-engineered
to accommodate heavier weights.
The development
of the Uplift Seat Assist PLUS grew out of demand from the
market place. Uplift Technologies was getting frequent requests
from dealers to produce an Uplift model that would give their
heavier clients the same independence enjoyed by users of
the popular Uplift UL 100 model. Those benefits are now available
with the introduction of the Uplift PLUS.
Uplift Seat Assist
and Uplift PLUS help keep people mobile, active and independent
by allowing them to exercise their own strength. Health professionals
especially like to use the Uplift in rehab situations because
it supports the "use it or lose it" approach to
maintaining muscle strength.
Uplift has been
clinically tested and proven "very useful for clients
with lower extremity weakness and/or upper extremity weakness."
(Institute for Rehabilitation Research and Development, Ottawa,
Canada) In addition to general weakness, Uplift can help individuals
suffering from arthritis, knee and hip conditions, rheumatism,
accidental injury, Parkinson's, post-operative conditions,
muscular dystrophy, neuromuscular disease, and degenerative
joint disease.
Uplift is lightweight
(8.5 lb.) and is easily adjustable to a weight setting appropriate
for the user. It adds less than 2 inches to the height of
the chair, yet provides a ten-inch lift. With seat dimensions
of 18" deep by 17" wide, the Uplift Seat Assist
and PLUS model fits most armchairs. Uplift is also available
in a special pressure relief (T-foam) designed to prevent
pressure sores.
